2 archaeological experiments

During last week, I joined in two archaeological experiments.

November 25-26: Stone oven cooking experiment

This 8th experiment was done in Hamamatsu, Shizuoka. This time, two kinds of stone oven cooking experiments used three 3 stone heaps: one was basalt heap and two were sandstone heaps.

The record on this experiment will be published soon (the details are not described here). The methods of firing and heating stones used Vanuatu style (e.g. Suzuki et. al 2004, 2006), and stone oven cooking experiments were done by all of three heaps.

December 1-2: Carbon residue experiment

Continued experiments in 2004 and 2005 (Nishida 2006), this experiment was conducted by experimental vessels in Tsunan-machi, Niigata.

This record will be published soon (not described here), 21 types of experiments used by animal meats and plants were done.
