Monday, August 31
9:30-12:00 Session 3
12:00-13:30 Lunch (yoga workshop held)
13:30-18:00 Session 3 and Discussion

The theme of this symposium is "Origin of rice agriculture and its diffusion to Southeast and East Asia", and this topic is vigorously discussed during these two days.

Especially, hotly-debated topic is a research question "why did people choose rice as their staple food, not other crop plants?" related with changes of subsistence strategy and social changes.
