On October 2nd (Fri) and 3rd (Sat), I conducted a new survey of grinding stone tools found from the Kakinoshima site in Hakodate city, Hokkaido.
I visited this Kakinoshima site in the last year's summer as well. This survey is a part of our cooperative research project, and I took residue samples from the ground stone and hand stones.
I also planed to examine some unearthed stone tools, but the wether was not so good. So I took samples from washed tools as well as unwahed (containing soils) tools for comparison of starch preservation.
After getting the results of this survey, we're planning to think about our next surveys. We will survey other sites in Hakodate city soon.
