Symposium about Field Cultivation (Report)

On November 25 (Sat), Symposium "Exploring field cultivation of Ainu"④ was held at the Date City Institute of Funkawan Culture in Hokkaido.

Dr. Eisuke Yokoyama explained this theme outline, and 7 speakers including me presented case studies and research results.

I reported crop remains of a field structure at the Kamuitapukopushita site in Usu, focusing on starch granules extracted from sediment samples.

In our discussion after presentations, the following themes were mainly focused: When was acutual field cultivation started in Hokkaido? What kind of evidences can we detect? Both of speakers and attendees discussed about them actively and deeply.

All of presentations and discussion will be published in March 2018.
