On May 24 (Mon), we went to survey Nishinouchi-kami in Hitachiomiya, Ibaraki Prefecture. Our main aims were to take leaf samples for DNA analyses and to observe paper making tools. More details about Nishinouchi-kami are here (Sorry it's just only in Japanese).
In this survey, we surveyed fields such as mixed cultivating kozo and konjac potato and a material shop of Taishi Nasu kozo.
We looked at the past paper making tools, and I took residue samples from them for my starch residue analysis.
Regarding Nishinouchi-kami, our project conducts the whole process from plant materials and produced papers to historical materials.
Thank you very much to all people concerned for your cooperation with in advance.
