Survey of historical materials at the Matsunoo Taisha Shrine

From June 16 to 18, we conducted a survey of historical materials at the Matsunoo Taisha Shrine in Kyoto.

This survey continued which we left off, and we build up data of the historical materials. Especially in this survey, I applied a new digital microscope with fluorescence to observe the surfaces of paper-based materials. As the result,  it was useful to identify paper components of some materials like scrolls with thick backing, which are difficult to use transmitted light.

We also discussed about cooperative project perspectives and publications of research results. Our next survey will be held in next October. Thank you a lot to all members.
