2 surveys of historical materials, 1 symposium, 1 conference

From the later to the end of October, I was busy conducting surveys of historical materials, participating in a symposium, and presenting at a conference. These are as the followings.

Surveys of historical materials

(1)Matsuo Taisha Shrine: 10/20-22

Every spring or summer, and autumn, we are conducting surveys there.
In this survey we continued to take microscopic photos since the survey in last June. Also we consulted with staffs related to our project (URL in Japanese). I'm now analysing the paper components.

(2)Seikado Bunko Art Museum:10/25・26

This was my first survey here.
As a part of the joint use and collaborative research, I'm conducting the paper component analysis of old sutras stored in the Seikado Bunko collaborating with other staffs. I observed many manuscripts in the Nara and Heian periods. I'm now analysing the paper components as well.

シンポジウム

On October 29 (Fri), a symposium about data in humanities and social sciences was conducted. In this symposium, speakers showed about long-term preservation and utilisation of research data, and discussed about future perspectives with participants. It was conducted online, but there were more than 150 participants.

第36回日本植生史学会大会

On October 30 and 31, the 36th annual conference of Japanese Association of Historical Botany (URL in Japanese) was held.
A public symposium about beans in the Jomon period was held on 30th, and on 31th, research results were presented. This time, I presented some contents by our research group of "A New Archaeology Initiative to Elucidate the Formation Process of Chinese Civilization"

This conference was conducted in-person and online. Unlike the in-person style, online poster presentations were difficult to promote discussions.

The next conference will be held in Nara National Research Institute for Cultural Properties. I hope we can discuss our studies in-person.
