The 10th World Archaeological Congress in Darwin, Australia

The 10th World Archaeological Congress was held in Darwin, Australia, from June 22 to 27. I organised a session and presented my research results there.

Our organising session is T12/S05, "Human Remains, Human Stories: Perspectives on Lifestyles, Health, and Environments".

Ayako Shibutani. Beyond the Visible: Microscopic Exploration of Starch Residues in Archaeological Contexts from East Asia.

More participants than expected attended our session, and all the presentations were followed by lively discussions. Some of the participants were affiliated with an academic journal, and we are now exploring the possibility of future collaboration.

It was my first visit to Australia, and although it was a long stay, I was able to meet with my archaeological starch research fellows since last year and talk about our studies, and I personally gained many results.

The venue for the next conference is still being worked out, but I hope to be able to participate again if the opportunity arises.
